BackerPacker is for long trips across several countries, the kind with no fixed end date and the next bed booked a day ahead. You add what you spend as you go, in whatever currency you paid in, and the app tells you how many days your money lasts and how many days your visa allows. Each day of the trip turns into a journal entry by itself.
The first card on Today shows how many more days your money lasts at the pace you're really spending. If you need to be home by a date, it shows what you can spend today instead. Flights, gear and visas can be marked as one-off costs, so a big purchase comes off your money without making every day look more expensive than it is.
BackerPacker counts the Schengen rule of 90 days in any 180 from the stops on your route, with the day you arrive and the day you leave both counted. In countries outside Schengen you tap how many days your passport stamp gives you, and it counts down from the day you arrived. A reminder comes a week before your last day and again two days before.
The Route tab draws your trip as a strip of countries, each in its own colour, with today marked and the days ahead fading out where your money runs out. Future stops can have a rough date, like sometime in November. If you set off weeks ago, BackerPacker reads where your photos were taken and suggests the stops you've already made.
Every day of the trip appears in Journal with where you were, what you spent and the photos you took, with room for a line of your own. The trip card turns the whole thing into one tall picture for Stories and TikTok.
Adding a spend, the runway, visa days and the journal all work offline. Spends in a currency without a rate yet are converted the next time the phone is online.
